According to Steve Frazier, President of HLP Klearfold, “When we started executing 30% box-grade PCR rPET ten years ago. And then, we reached 30% content as a proper balance between our clients’ sustainability aspirations at that time. And our expertise to create an rPET folding carton with no perceptible variation in quality as compared to our virgin APET.
All of this made feasible because HLP Klearfold launched a vertical integration program in 2009. HLP spending in custom extruders created to make premium-quality, box-grade plastics particularly. Having these extruders has allowed the company to generate an rPET folding carton with 30% PCR that is alike from virgin PET. Today, thanks to this ability, joined with carefully and locally sourced post-consumer PET waste. HLP Klearfold can design box-grade rPET with 100% PCR, with no significant sacrifice in quality or performance. And also without jeopardizing the high marketing appeal of Klearfold cartons.
This development of PCR offerings allows HLP Klearfold to propose something for everyone beyond the visual packaging spectrum,” states Frazier.“For consumers with sustainability goals of changing levels and timelines, we now allow excellent quality PCR choices of both 30% or 100%, depending on the ambitiousness of their programs.
