Razor is responsibly packaging with sustainable cardboard
Gillette commits reducing plastic waste and preserving the planet’s resources; Gillette introduces new, fully recyclable packaging for the complete series of refillable razors.
Eco-friendly cardboard packaging is created with recycled materials and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper.
With more than 800 million users globally, Gillette has taken on the challenge of giving an exceptional shaving experience while preserving natural resources.
This environmental responsibility is part of a vital sustainability goal: by 2030, 100% of the brand’s packaging will be recyclable. This aggressive strategy will substantially progress from 2023 onwards and guarantee a significant, continuing impact thanks to these new environmental excellence standards.
Products in line with a responsible approach
As a shaving leader for more than a century, Gillette is committed to supporting people to become more environmentally friendly customers. The research and development teams have been striving for years to provide men with the best possible shaving products that are efficient, safe, and sustainable.

The handle is made reusable for five years and even longer if you take good care of it; the blades ensure comfortable use for one month before requiring to be changed*.
New cardboard packaging expected to eliminate 300 tonnes of plastic per year
Today, users expect more from the brands they trust. According to an IPSOS survey employed by Gillette, 69% of UK consumers surveyed think they would be more suitable to purchase a product with sustainable packaging.

This eco-packaging awareness makes packaging a central interest. Indeed, decreasing plastic waste has become a priority for users, to the point of becoming a critical factor in purchasing and product loyalty.
Conscious of the people who use Gillette products to take a reliable method and limit their carbon footprint, taking a step towards sustainability with a new recyclable cardboard packaging for all our refillable razors. Its estimate that this lead will reduce 300 tonnes of plastic in EU in one year, the equivalent of more than 30 million bottles of water (evaluation based on earlier year’s shipping volumes).
Cardboard packaging at the heart of the circular economy
To help the users on the road to recycling, our new packaging is composed of cardboard and paper only. These materials are recognizable, easy to classify, and recyclable. An essential portion since 90% and 89% respectively of the consumers examined in our study stated that paper and cardboard are easy to recycle appropriately.
Continually looking for solutions and options that are more considerate of the environment, our crews have chosen the circular economy. The cardboard and paper used to build up the box and holder of our refillable razors are formed from used newspapers, magazines, and cardboard.
The external box includes a minimum of 50% recycled material, while the inside packaging contains 95% recycled material. This packaging has the highest recyclability rate in Europe.
According to current EU Union data, 85.8% of cardboard and paper packaging is become recycled, making this material the perfect example of the circular economy’s efficiency in the territory.
