What Packaging Is Recyclable?

When buying food for your family, knowing what packaging is recyclable is essential. Here are the seven most common types of packaging and how they can be recycled.

Plastic bags: Plastic bags can be recycled by breaking them down into small pieces and then putting them in a recycle bin.

Non-recyclable plastic: Non-recyclable plastic includes things like Styrofoam and polystyrene, which should not be put in the recycling bin because they are difficult to break down and can end up in our environment as litter. Many stores have a particular area for these items, where customers can throw them away without penalty.

Glass bottles: Glass bottles can be recycled by breaking them down into small pieces and then putting them in a recycle bin. Some stores offer customers the option to return glass bottles for a refund, which helps offset the cost of recycling.

Cans: Cans are made from aluminum, which is one of the most recyclable materials out there. Most cans are collected by collection centers and sent off to be processed into new products like metal cans or new plastics.

what packaging is recyclable?,

While numerous plastics are technically recyclable, as we have noticed above, plastic recycling is now problematic. Also, biodegradable and compostable plastics are not recyclable as they degrade the recycled plastic making it unusable for manufacturing durable products.

Recycled products

Some recycled products are made from materials that cannot be recycled, such as paper mixed with plastic or glass. These products are often called “downcycled” because they are used in new products or returned to manufacturing.

Gummed paper tape

Kraft paper tape with a water-soluble starch-based adhesive that is water activated. It is 100% recyclable and, as an extra, offers the most secure seal of all traditional box sealing tapes.
