WHY UPDATE?
If you haven’t upgraded your Pantone Guides and books for several years, your colors are no longer meeting complete market demand or reliably accurate.
Colors typically lose their vibrancy and turn yellow within 12-18 months. This means Guides and Chip Books should be replaced regularly to maintain consistency. For more information on the importance of updating your guide, please read about how it can save you valuable production time and money here.
The products offered include new formulas made with the latest base inks. These inks can be applied during the print production and are designed to be more environmentally friendly. They do not contain barium and consist of 65% vegetable-based content.
Pantone guides and books are produced using the highest manufacturing standards. In each edition, we ensure:
- Highly-regulated ink formula consistency
- Printed on the most popular commercial-grade 100 lb and 80 lb text-weight stocks
- Carefully monitoring for imperfections during the production process
However, while we know you may like to hold onto them forever, the guides require replacing every 12 months (depending on your usage case and storage habits) due to handling, fading, and aging, which cause the colors to appear inaccurate over time.
- Handling = smearing and removing pigment due to natural oils on fingertips
- Pages rubbing together = Scratching or removing pigment
- Light exposure = Fading
- Paper aging = Yellowing effects
- Ambient moisture = Accelerating paper aging
