Home Compostable, BioBased, and Oxygen Barrier coffee capsule by Capsul’in Pro

Capsul’in Pro (Luxembourg-based company) has Now started its Zero Impact Nespresso®-compatible coffee capsule. It is the first of its kind to be 100% biobased, certified home compostable, and with a high oxygen barrier that protects the coffee’s flavor and aroma.

The Zero Impact capsule is entirely plant-based and does not include materials derived from fossil fuels. After use, the capsule can be placed in a home compost bin or obtained with organic waste.

The product premiered Today at the AMI Single-Serve virtual conference, conferred by company CEO Laurent Lombart. Capsul’in Pro has given five years to develop the technology to be the first company to solve the hurdle of making a coffee capsule that is both biobased and has a high oxygen barrier.

Laurent Lombart said, “Today, thanks to Capsul’in Pro’s IML Zero Impact capsule, users can have a more sustainable, home compostable coffee capsule with an excellent result in the cup. Users now have more coffee capsule options for a more sustainable everyday life. We pledged to shift a vital share of the coffee capsule market to our Zero Impact capsules.”

Zero Impact leads to the capsule’s Zero Impact on fossil sources. This new capsule is in line with the European Union’s Circular Economic Action Plan, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of packaging by 2030.
