Anti-pathogenic packaging solution for Active Food Packaging
Aptar Group company launched an InvisiShield™ platform technology for the packaging of food products to shield from harmful pathogens like bacteria, mildew, and viruses.
InvisiShield is a premium active packaging systems and processing technology for fresh-cut fruits, vegetables, and seafood.
It is a first of its kind anti-pathogenic packaging solution seamlessly integrated into sealed packages to preserve fresh-cut vegetables from harmful pathogens like bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
It is also validated through third-party studies confirmed InvisiShield™ technology to be up to 99.9% valid against the most typical foodborne pathogens: Pathogenic E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Human Norovirus, Hepatitis A, Shigella, Campylobacter jejuni, Staphylococcus aureus, Yersinia enterocolitica, Vibrio vulnificus, Geotrichum candidum, Feline calicivirus, and Rotavirus.
It is easy to include in existing or current packing lines; the technology decreases pathogen growth without negatively affecting the product in the packaging.
Aptar Company incredibly proud of its technology and the enormous amount of research that has led to this launch. Aptar Company has material science knowledge that they are implementing food safety solutions. It is a very critical time when consumers need more reliable and healthier food packaging outcomes.
InvisiShield™ leverages 3-Phase Activ-Polymer™ technology, patented by Aptar CSP Technologies. The 3-Phase Activ-Polymer™ technology is existing used by known global brands with a wide range of products to prolong shelf life, preserve freshness, and enhance efficiency in industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and food safety.
The InvisiShield solution is activated inside sealed packages to safely and efficiently discharge a specially formulated amount of an anti-pathogenic agent into the fresh-cut produce’s packaging environment. It is undetectable to the user and disperses from the pack within 24-48 hours of activation. This mechanism significantly decreases pathogens that may have been added during the supply chain without getting into connection with the product itself. The outcome is a final intervention action that also minimizes cross-contamination within the sealed package.
As a quality assurance device, InvisiShield appears a need for intensified defense against foodborne diseases. The Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) solution allows outbreak mitigation without negatively impacting product organoleptic. Statistically incapable of identifying a variation in the color, aroma, flavor, or texture of tomatoes packaged in a conventional method versus packed with InvisiShield technology.
InvisiShield™ technology can be seamlessly integrated into an existing production line with complete on-site technical support. The technology is accessible in different packaging arrangements, ensuring flexibility and adjustability to a wide range of packaging and distribution systems.
