A new development of water-resistant paper AquaStop – Smurfit Kappa
Smurfit Kappa has created an imaginative and sustainable water-resistant paper. AquaStop is a new TechniPaper® portfolio consisting of high-performance papers developed to endure even the most complex supply chains.
The AquaStop paper is water-resistant; it has a special coating added to it during the manufacturing process. Unlike numerous other coatings, this does not compromise the product’s recyclability and can be recycled in the same way as traditional paper-based packaging.
AquaStop™ is the innovation in Smurfit Kappa’s Better Planet Packaging series of products, which deliver sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. It is designed to resist exposure to water without being damaged; it is appropriate for eCommerce packaging and packaging for products such as flowers, detergent, and fruit and vegetables where interim protection against water is required.
It is also especially appropriate for use in humid conditions as the box stays intact while protecting the contents, making it an ideal solution for transporting and storing refrigerated products with exposure to condensation.
