Sustainable revolution for food – Uteco Group

From the collaboration among Novamont, SunChemical Group, Ticinoplast, and Uteco Group – an all-Italian supply chain of industrial and technological excellence, a new food packaging thought is born. This response to the growing demand for packaging with a lower environmental impact and performance and characteristics has no identification on the world market.

Through sharing their respective technological know-how, Novamont, SunChemical, Ticinoplast, and Uteco Group have formed a solution that combines the biodegradability and compostability of materials (biopolymers, inks, adhesives, barrier products, and substrates) with extrusion, printing, and lamination techniques. First in the world – Therefore, the flexible film is optimal for food packaging. It should include similar technical characteristics to the solutions currently chosen but should be executed to collect the wet fraction and sent for subsequent industrial composting.

Novamonts flexible Mater-Bi bioplastic film, expelled with Ticinoplast technology, is managed with Aerbloc Enhance / SunChemical stop the lacquer printed with Aqualam / SunChemical water-based inks and laminated using a SunLam / SunChemical compostable solvent-free adhesive securing the printing technology and lamination of Uteco Group.

It is an explanation that enables creating a wide range of laminated structures, which can be selected to produce various types of food packaging on different automatic, horizontal, and vertical packaging lines and many preformed bags.

Thoughts such as recyclability and eco-design are frequently oriented to customers’ stimuli to direct their purchasing and consumption choices towards products packaged with small bulky and more sustainable packaging, significantly change the packaging sector, and the real challenge today makes it easy to adopt these solutions.

“Thanks to our supply chain, packaging division operators and brand owners can have a “one-stop-shop” in which to receive the complete solution, tailored to everyone’s needs, without having to spend time and energy in selecting individual suppliers of different components necessary for the achievement of the specific solution,” declares Aldo Peretti, president of Uteco Group.

“the Companies are now required to make a joint effort that allowed them to create sustainable solutions for food packaging ultimately the supply chain and in a little time. In this prospect, the innovation contribution that each partner brought to raw materials, processing technologies, printing machines, inks, adhesives, and coatings was an indispensable component for the initiative’s success, “says Fabio Deflorian, CEO of SunChemical Group Italy.

“In this special moment in which the push towards sustainability is solid, a collaboration between several companies becomes a significant element to allow the process of technological modernization to be significantly accelerated, leading to the formulation of solutions suitable for food packaging that respects the environment,” Comments Paolo Rossi, CEO of T
