Paper U-straw debut for the milk carton by SIG
SIG’s made it possible to make Paper U-straw for its retail debut this month. CAPSA Food is the first to use this innovation for its ‘Central Lechera Asturiana’ whole milk, Spain’s number one dairy brand.
Paper U Straw – Sustainable Alternatives
Sustainable choices continue to gain drive because of the EU Waste Legislation and raise concerns about plastic straws’ environmental impression. According to the European Union’s SUP (Single-Use Plastic) directive, plastic straws in Europe must be substituted by July 2021.
CAPSA Food has started its Central Lechera Asturiana whole milk with the latest SIG Paper U-straw on SIG’s combiblocSmall 200ml carton packs.
The newly innovative Paper U-straw supports SIG’s ongoing endeavors to use more renewable materials.
The paper used to design SIG paper straws, including upright and U-shaped in 4 and 6mm diameter, is FSCTM-certified. The cover for the straw has also been redesigned to continue attached to the packaging to stop littering and dispose of with the carton pack.

The new Paper U-straw is added critical milestone on SIG’s Way Beyond Good campaign to put more back into the community and the environment than it takes out.
