LES EAUX DE CHANEL Elegance and simplicity with a sustainable SULAPAC cap on top
CHANEL has just published new LES EAUX DE CHANEL fragrance bottle caps created with biobased Sulapac material.
It all started with a desire. In 2018, LES EAUX DE CHANEL began a new olfactory world to the fragrances of the House: a singular collection, motivated by Mademoiselle Coco Chanel’s favorite places, fueled by the imaginary and composed approximately freshness.
Consistently, LES EAUX DE CHANEL was considered with sustainability in mind. Its glass fragrance bottles are thinner and lighter*, which shows a smaller volume of raw materials and optimized transport. The corrugated cardboard that is customarily hidden was transformed into clean, simple outer packaging with no lamination or glossy coating makes it more comfortable with recycling.

By 2021, a total of the 125 ml bottles in the LES EAUX DE CHANEL gathering are exceeded with a biobased** cap, which CHANEL has produced in partnership with Sulapac. During two years, CHANEL teams worked hand-in-hand with the Finnish startup to build an unprecedented cap composed of three layers, constructed out of 91% biobased materials collected from renewable supplies and FSC certified*** wood chips (by-products of industrial side-streams).
In keeping with the rigorous rules of the House of CHANEL, each detail was thoroughly thought out, including the sensory characteristics of the material, its resistance to fluctuations in temperature, the different sounds the bottle performs. At the same time, the cap is put on, the grip, and the depth of the satiny matte coating on the iconic double C engraving. It took no less than 48 tries to arrive at the concluding product. The project is a component of a long-term, collaborative approach that puts sustainability at the center of CHANEL research and expansion.
Luxury standards leading the way
Sulapac was satisfied to welcome CHANEL, a leading brand representing the most demanding luxury segment, among its first investors in 2018.
