Sustainable cake packaging boards by Sirane
SIRANE introduced a fully recyclable cake board to the market earlier this year and added customized-printed cake boards to the recyclable offering.
Standard cake boards are either foil-backed or lined with plastic to provide the necessary grease/moisture barrier – but Sirane created a cost-effective alternative.

The eco-friendly https://www.sirane.com/en/product/compostable-recyclable-cake-boards-custom-print/water-based coating provides the boards the needed grease/moisture barrier – but crucially, the board can easily be recycled in the paper/board recycling stream.
And now those recyclable cake boards can be delivered with custom printing – corporate colors, fun designs (birthdays, Christmas, etc.), or something else.
Director of board products, Ross Griffin, said: “Recent stats show that in the UK alone, we spend £368m a year on cakes. Many of these will use cake boards, and the vast majority – if not all – will nowadays end up in landfill or incinerated. “We can supply a recyclable alternative, which does the same job, at virtually the exact cost – in fact, in some cases, we can offer a cost saving.
“This is a sustainable, plastic-free, recyclable packaging solution that functions in precisely the same way and offers a range of additional branding options.
“Now we can offer printed boards, offering customers a chance to get creative.”
The new Earthboard Eco cake-boards are standard in pearlescent coatings, including silver, gold, and black. We can also supply any Pantone color subject.
Ross added: “Whether it’s corporate colors for a retailer or branding based on Christmas or Easter, we can offer a huge range of options to anyone selling cakes.”
Broad Range and thickness
Standard sizes are 6in, 7in, 8in, 9in, 10in, 11in, and 12in, circular and square. However, we can supply any size/shape as required. We can also provide patisserie boards.
Earthboard Eco cake boards are 1550 microns (approximately 1.5mm) and offer a double-thickness board of 3100 microns (about 3mm).
