AR Packaging starts the Ecoflex mono-material during thermoformed applications
While world mono-material plastic packaging film consumption is forecast to improve throughout 2020–25 at an annual average valuation of 3.9% to 26.03 million tonnes ($70.9 billion), AR Packaging is meeting the challenge by originating Ecoflex, its 100% recyclable mono polyethylene film for thermoforming that presents a sustainable alternative to PA-based materials, while eventually reaching OPRL guidelines.
Designed originally as a thermoforming base web, Ecoflex is expressed with premium PE polymers, offering good puncture resistance and enhanced tear resistance. It can be done for MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) or vacuum. Giving outstanding clarity and printability, the material is ideal for meat, dairy, and bakery thermoformed applications and has good recyclability everywhere in Europe.
Ecoflex is produced at AR Packaging’s Highbridge-UK site. Working intimately with customers, the company has a range of flexible block packaging solutions specializing in expelled, thin multilayer materials. Highbridge’s products are utilized in both food and non-food activities. The company ensures a high level of strength for products where material function plays a crucial element, before-mentioned as a gas barrier or to offer puncture resistance.
“The launch of Ecoflex presents retailers with their sustainable element of choice,” said Greg Mitchell, technical sales manager, AR Packaging Highbridge. “Preferably of reliance on PA/PE-material for their flexible thermoformed applications, the Ecoflex is a recyclable mono PE film that allows connected mechanical and influence strength. In the UK, for pattern, the material can be converted at front-of-store recycling abilities that allow consumers to return polyolefin-based flexible packaging.”

The Ecoflex material confirms similar or better performance on standard thermoforming and filling lines, with the possibility of decreased temperature settings and thereby power savings.
AR Packaging’s comprehensive variety of thermoformable base webs includes multiple applications to meet customers’ exacting needs and match one of the group’s lidding films for perfect pack integrity and process efficiency. Both base webs and lidding films are recommended for food contact and can be combined with convenience characteristics and high-quality flexo printing.
