Sustainable SBC products with a 100% bio-attributed option – INEOS Styrolution

INEOS Styrolution, the international supplier of styrenics, has introduced its first SBC products from 100% bio-attributed feedstock. The new solution is known for INEOS Styrolution’s Styrolux® and Styroflex® product lines.

Styrolux ECO and Styroflex ECO

Styrolux ECO and Styroflex ECO became INEOS Styrolution’s main specialty products based on bio-attributed styrene. The information proceeds by producing these products from 100% bio-attributed feedstock. The styrene and the butadiene elements in the SBC copolymer are from bio-attributed feedstock, kitchen, and food waste and are not rivalry with food production.

The outcome is a material (Styrolux ECO B100 and Styroflex ECO B100) with a neutral to even negative carbon footprint when biogenic carbon is regarded. The material shows identical product features to the conventionally produced Styrolux/Styroflex copolymers.

Marcela Villegas, Director of Commercial Product Management EMEA, comments: “I am very proud of our achievement. We have produced such a wonderfully sustainable material for our customers. Styrenics teach us every day that the materials are indeed made for circularity. I expect many of our customers in the packaging industry will take advantage of the new ECO solutions.”

The bio-attribution method is certified by ISCC PLUS.

Styrolux delivers a fantastic blend of high transparency, brilliance, and impact resistance, driving it the material of option for applications such as labeling and twist films, shrink film, food packaging, medical applications (e.g., drip chambers and medical tubes), and different additional applications (such as hangers and office equipment).

Styroflex proposes the properties of a thermoplastic elastomer (S-TPE), is appropriate for extrusion and injection molding, and can be used for a broad spectrum of applications such as wrap films and stretch hoods and modifiers for the household industry.
