Burger King Reusable Packaging Test by Loop

In line with our Burger King for Good commitments, we’re proud to declare partnering with Loop to introduce reusable packaging across selected meal and cold drink menu items in restaurants.

The trial runs for five months, from 26th April – to 5th September, at selected restaurants in Ipswich and Newmarket.

Clients will have the opportunity to pay a £1 deposit for a reusable cup or container instead of using single-use packaging, helping reduce single-use packaging consumption.

Customers can choose 10 Burger King® UK products in the Loop reusable packaging, including a range of sides, including Chilli Cheese Bites, and burgers, including the Plant-based Whopper® and the Crispy Chicken.

When consumers return the reusable cup or container, they have to download the Loop app, then scan the imprinted barcode on the cup or container and put it into a Loop bin. Loop bins will be set outside selected Burger King® UK restaurants where the trials occur and in other locations found through the Loop app.

Customers who return their cups or containers will be refunded their deposit. All produced cups or containers will be professionally cleaned using Loop’s state-of-the-art system, scientifically designed to sanitize each item before reuse and then put back into the cycle.

Download the Loop deposit app via Google Play here or App Store here.

Registration on the Loop App is required for deposit refund, and bank account registration on the Loop App is needed for deposit withdrawal. Please contact Loop UK Customer Service (Phone: 0800 2700 015, Email: hello@loopmobileapp.com). At participating restaurants in the UK for a limited time. Burger King® UK, 2022

I would not use the cups for sure. It’s a fact some if not most would skip the wash cycle and just reuse. It would be expensive to recycle. I have horror stories of what restaurants do to save money & time. If you want to help take all your leftovers & throw out in trash outside so can’t be “reused” & bring your own mug or drink out of bottle & eliminate lipstick & worse on unwashed glasses. Best bring your own drink in own container.

That is the personnel opinion and it is good, you pointed out.
